The Quality Technician I will perform testing and inspection at various stages of the production process, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Performs quality inspection at various stages of the production process, testing for dimensional accuracy, performance, and other specified characteristics;
  • Work independently to accomplish visual and dimensional mechanical inspection processes to maintain the highest customer quality requirements;
  • Perform periodic gauge checks of parts on check fixture or positions in gauging setup to verify dimensions;
  • Review inspection documentation created in production to ensure required measurements are performed and audit that measurements are performed correctly;
  • Determine acceptance or rejection of products and materials;
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and containment of suspect, non-conforming, and reject material;
  • Complete reports and logs both manually and electronically;
  • Assist Quality Team Members and Operations with failure and nonconforming material data recording and reporting;
  • Perform dock audits and other product audits as necessary to ensure product conformance to dimensional, packaging, labeling, handling, and any other customer part specifications;
  • Review suspect parts to assist with root cause analysis and troubleshooting, determining reasons for dimensional variations such as equipment faults, assembly procedures, setup, tools, or fixtures and provide details to Quality department;
  • Assist laboratory team with cut and etch process, including operation of plasma cutter to create test samples;
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
  • Cooperate with internal and external certification audits and customer audits, supporting site initiatives towards achieving and maintaining customer awards as well as quality and environmental certifications (IATF, TS, ISO);
  • Adhere to Team Handbook, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures;
  • Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately;
  • Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Six (6) months of related experience or training;
  • Two (2) years of manufacturing experience desired, OEM Tier I automotive supplier experience preferred.
