MIG Welder

Canton, MI

Currently seeking qualified candidates for a MIG Welder position with a manufacturing facility in Canton, MI. The ideal candidate will have a Hi-Lo license, Lock-Out / Tag-Out certification and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities of the MIG Welder

  • Responsible for all aspects of the set-up and operation of the welding equipment used in the production of high-quality welded parts.
  • Monitor welding process and maintain accurate documentation to ensure product conforms to customer requirements.
  • Verify job set-up to schedule.
  • Verify equipment on hand to perform job function.
  • Job changeovers
  • Make weld adjustments.
  • Print required paperwork, setups and routings.
  • Dimple troubleshooting and Robot adjustments.
  • Assist in the Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) of the equipment.
  • Remove and tag scrap per company policy (parts and re-shear).
  • Tag Tracking System management and MPCS management.
  • FIFO inventory – WIP and finished goods.
  • Proper wrapping/packaging to specification.
  • Cup tests and Control charting.
  • Inspect product as per instructions & routings.
  • Verify process set-up in accordance to set-up sheets.
  • Complete necessary record on documentation relating to inspection, TPM, job set-up and other required paperwork.
  • Responsible for product quality.
  • Other tasks as required.

Requirements of the MIG Welder

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Hi-Lo license
  • Lock-Out / Tag-Out certification
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment (fork truck) 5,000 to 30,000 lbs capacity
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Must be able to understand basic math and have the ability to use a calculator and tape measure (metric / standard tolerancing)
  • Must be able to make good judgment decisions concerning parts, quality, etc.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, squat, twist and climb throughout the day. Lift up to 40 lbs and may be required to push scrap with a resistance of 40 lbs as well.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
