Reports directly to the President


Works collaboratively with VP Sales, Regional and Territory Sales Managers, VP Business Development, Technical Service and HR Director, the CFO; as well as the Manager of Technology/R&D/Production and Purchasing and Inventory Control.


Achieve annual sales and profitability goals via execution of marketing strategy including new product development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Responsible for marketing activities and development efforts affecting Transtar manufactured product and products purchased-for-resale. 

  1. Leads sales promotion activities driving growth and market penetration.
  2. Establishes market pricing in the North American Sales Channel. 
  3. Leads trade show activities and PBE advertising.
  4. Identifies and manages test market activities for new products. 
  5. Works closely as a member of the Management Team on the development and execution of an annual business plan.
  6. Manages market research activities with R&D Manager to obtain relevant information about current and competitive products and services.  Establishes and maintains market contacts to identify and track industry trends and develops solutions as required by the market, government regulations and our customers. 

Develop actionable strategic marketing plans that are consistent with company objectives and policies.   Lead the marketing process: 

Collaborate with managers to identify present and future market needs and translate needs and opportunities into business strategy resulting in products that will provide sales growth and product margins needed to achieve company goals.  Manage activities within the Marketing Department to assure adherence to established strategy.  New product development activities will be implemented and managed in compliance with the New Product Development Process.

Implement and coordinate and interpret market research to determine potential new market opportunities.  Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all partners within Transtar and with all relevant suppliers and service partners.  Ensure that all sales of Transtar products are compliant with Federal, State, and Local regulations. 

Other functions include:  development of the Marketing Department budget.  Manage the current and new product portfolio of the company.  Review effectiveness of website, trade advertising and promotional programs to determine cost effectiveness of selected programs to the business.


Directly supervise employees.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent. Five to seven years of experience in marketing management, sales, and/or business development. Strong understanding of the PBE marketplace, product applications, solutions, and product vendors. Must demonstrate the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.

Team player. Track record of maintaining business relationships. Strong negotiation skills. Excellent presentation skills, ability to communicate and excellent listening skills. This position requires the ability to make executive, board-level presentations.

Strong PC skills, including experience using MS Project, MS Office, MS Outlook, and MS and current CRM, or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives. Strong organizational skills and professional business practices a must.

MBA or equivalent proven experience in identifying, negotiating, structuring, completing, and implementing channel partnership agreements.

Up to 50% travel.  Trade shows may require a week or more at a time.  Field work every month to maintain pulse of business and stay current on all initiatives.
