The Department Lead is responsible to manage the overall workflow of their assigned department, managing the work-center using the top-down methodology, assisting with setting up machines and approving and verifying first parts, daily assignment of duties, communication with all team members within the department as well as supervisors, management and crossing shift boundaries. Additional responsibilities include enforcing and adhering to safety policies, maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to Quality guidelines and responding to Quality alerts.


  • Distribute work assignments for each of the employees in area of responsibility
  • Manage the work-center production schedule using top-down methodology
  • Communicate with the shift supervisor, company managers, alternate shift leader in assigned department, and other leaders as necessary to maintain the production schedule (Including tooling needs and personnel issues).
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations as they apply to the area of responsibility
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the area of responsibility
  • Approve the set-up first piece of Manufacturing Orders (M.O.)
  • Train all employees to the work instructions and processes in the area of responsibility
  • Review all applicable Quality Alerts with employees on a daily basis
  • Conduct process audits as scheduled by the Quality Department
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within area of responsibility and throughout the organization. Report or suggest the same to the management team.
  • Carries out all job duties, incorporating safe work habits and proper equipment.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, while maintaining a high standard of excellence.


  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting Manufacturing Order, including how much material is needed to complete a job
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematic skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively motivate a group of people.
  • Basic computer knowledge required for doing data entry and printing.


  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
