The primary duties of this position are to solicit new business opportunities, collect and analyze information regarding the client’s assets, risk exposures and consumer reports; determining which insurance products best meet the client’s needs and financial circumstances; analyzing and advising the client regarding the advantages and disadvantage of different insurance products; and marketing, servicing or promoting the insurance products of the companies that the firm represents. 

The primary duty requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. The position is classified as exempt/salaried. 

Job Duties Job duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Engage prospective clients by making cold introductions. 
  • Possess knowledge of the principles and methods involved in showing, promoting, and selling insurance products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, and sales control. 
  • Develop relationships with Underwriters and negotiate pricing. 
  • Interview prospective clients to obtain data about their assets, investments and debts. ? Determine existing coverage levels. 
  • Prepare and present professional insurance proposals including risk management and coverage analysis. 
  • Create insurance applications. 
  • Determine contractual requirements have been satisfied and make decisions to bind insurance coverage. 
  • Solicit referrals from existing clients. 
  • Exceed established sales goals. 
  • Attend and contribute to regular sales meetings. 
  • Facilitate service requests and follow all agency procedures.

Educational and Background Requirements: 

The individual must have at least a high school degree and either has, or will obtain, a Property and Casualty insurance license within ninety (90) days of employment. The preferred individual will have a bachelor degree in business, liberal arts, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful achievements, expert knowledge of personal line insurance products and professional selling skills. 

The individual must be capable of passing a background check demonstrating the absence of any criminal record regarding theft, violence, or any other characteristic involving honesty or integrity. Individual must qualify to be bonded. Except in unusual circumstances, individual must have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
